{For Entrepreneurs} Closing Out Your Year in 60 Days

It’s the last quarter of the year and if you are like me, it hasn’t been the most profitable year and I have an inventory that needs to be sold. At no time have I asked myself, how did I get here? Well, life happened then more life happenings started to occur then boom, October is here. There is no turning away from time left in this year. I have less than 90 days to get things in order for next year, but only 60 days to get-out-of this year.


The 60-Day Turnaround Campaign - Inventory

When you have an excess of inventory, the first thing you think of is a sale. Sales normally don’t help profits but they do clear the shelves. Don’t lose your profit, instead, rewrite your content. Instead of saying “Fall or Columbus Day sale”, remind them that your product would make the best gift for your colleague, sister, pastor, friend.

For example, my SquareUp storefront, Bougie Geek, has new fall cardigans for sale. High quality and extremely chic-cute, but that is not my marketing content. Instead, I am focusing on the Fall Fashion Trend of Leopard prints. The content changes from “New Fall Cardigans” to “Must-Have Leopard Print Long Sweaters.”


Don't forget to repost customer feedback and reviews. Say thank you to your fan base and promote your product at the same time. After 15 days with the updated content, revise your content if needed and change your marketing images. Remember that consumers get bored easily and a simple change in product image can increase product awareness.

Consumer Communication is the driving force of sales and the driving force of your business. If you do not say your business name or talk about business everyday… that needs to change TODAY.

Let’s continue using my merchandise storefront, Bougie Geek, to address communication and lead generation. Two weeks ago, I wrote about changing the tone of marketing based on inventory, specifically my new fall items. When addressing new products or services that I provide, I always reference my analytics by asking a simple question, what communication ways are most engaging with my audience?


My email communication coupled with Facebook Lives is my leading communication and engagement factor. Don’t try to fix what isn’t broken. Never disregard a campaign or strategy that is working.


Staying on track of communication with clients and leads is simple as an auto-generated auto response. Facebook Messenger and Instagram messenger have options for automatic response. For example, I received inventory for Bougie Geek’s FishNet Signature Gloves on a Friday evening. Sunday morning on my families’ Facebook Live, Going to Church with The Sullivans, I wore the gloves as well as mentioned they were for sale.



On Tuesday, my inventory was sold out and another order was placed. On Wednesday, I received a Facebook message regarding the signature item. I had an automatic reply and within 24 hours an intern or myself responded to the inquiry ensuring that the item would be back in stock within a week. When the stock was received, I posted an image stating that inventory was in. I also responded directly to that lead to that her know that inventory was received and immediately that the customer placed an order.

With all orders placed using the SquareUp storefront, I collect the email address, birth date, name and location of each customer. This information will assist with future campaigns and promotions. Using the SquareUp marketing feature, I can send automated emails to include birthday promo codes, discounts and exclusive deals to previous customers.


We get these emails all the time from Old Navy, H&M, Nordstroms, Macy’s, and many more. These emails are automated. This is the primary and most effective way to streamline your workload and increase customer service. Setting up and developing content for email distribution is time-consuming. It is best to take a week to develop these ideas and strategies, then a couple of days to write and develop images for each strategy then plan when to post.



This is a huge commitment to increase your leads and provide great customer service through automated communications.
