Celebrate Your Victories, Learn from Your Defeats.
It was 2015 and I was preparing for my first event. I wasn’t helping a client, this event was all on me. The pressure was on. The room was half-filled, we were 30 minutes late in starting and some key people were not able to make it. I was overwhelmed. When the event was over, I overheard some attendees talking. “She could have had better lighting,” “I was expecting a little more”, “she did look great though” and of course “I am glad this was a free event.”
Sound familiar? Having your own business does not come with an applause button. Most days you may spend alone, isolated, battling with good ideas, struggling with lack of personnel, finances, the list goes on and on. Guess what? It gets worse before it gets better, but God doesn’t put more on you than you can bear; but most importantly remember, all things work together for the good (Romans 8:28).
Don’t be so hard on yourself.
Having a business is hard. Playing the role of many in your business is challenging, but every once in a while it is great to applaud yourself. You are winning!! You may be down and out over an event that did not go as planned. Or a business venture that lacked the financial backing or a failed partnership.
Listen, you are winning because you had the courage to start. Now is the time to celebrate, reflect and plan for a better event, a better financial quarter and a better business mindset.
Don’t look for others to applaud you. Don’t wait on the affirmation of others. YOU ARE WINNING and you will continue to win as long as you keep your eyes on the prize (Philippians 3:14). You will not know your prize until you make a plan. Get ready for your next level because it's right around the corner. Get your team together NOW and get prepared for what is about to happen.

Don’t panic and don’t worry. The time is now to pray, plan and execute. Planning does not mean that you pile everything on yourself. Planning could possibly mean building that team that will assist with time management and resources. Or maybe its time to level up and start marketing your company in a different way. Whatever the case may be, celebrate this time and learn from your defeats. You can not have a win without a loss.
