Yourself is Listening

Shades of Faith - Pray Yourself Forward

I recently watched the movie “I Feel Pretty” starring Amy Schumer. Its an average romantic comedy about a girl who has low self-esteem. While trying to build her confidence, she falls off a spin cycle bike and hits her head. When she comes to, she glances in the mirror to her surprise, she is exactly what she has been dreaming of … she is pretty. To the viewer, of course, nothing has changed. She looks exactly the same, but her confidence is through the roof. She spends the rest of the movie in awe over her beauty only to realize that she was holding herself back with self-negativity.

How many times have we looked in the mirror to start critiquing ourselves? How many times have we stared at our computer screens to degrade our work? How many times have you spoke on the phone to a friend and said “I’m broke”, “I’m sad”, “I don’t know what to do, I’m stuck.” Too many to count, right.

We are hard on ourselves. We speak about ourselves and to ourselves in a negative light, we start to internalize these feelings. We begin to dwell in that place but wonder why simultaneously. It’s time that we look beyond our reflection and see greatness. If we began to see greatness within ourselves, we then will speak greatness.

I admit, I can not look at myself in the mirror and see greatness without thinking of my day job and the success I encounter at work. I have a fear of leaving my day job to fully depend on my business to exceed my current salary. I am terrified. I will admit, my faith is shady on this topic.

I was at #dunkindonuts, of course, for my morning coffee when I decided to pay it forward and swipe the total for the car behind me. As I pulled off and added my #twosmallstraws to my cup of joe, God told me …“pray yourself forward.” I spend countless hours assisting entrepreneurs reach goals but yet I am holding back on my own. Don’t forget your dreams while you facilitate others.

I am completely swallowed by the negative aspects of transition to full time #purplepinking instead of boosting the positive vibes and milestones I could accomplish. I need to pray myself forward, I need to accept this process of believing. If I continue to focus on the uncertain, I will completely miss the victor inside of me. Just as Amy Schumer concluded in the highlight of the film, it was inside of her the entire time, SHE just had to believe it.

The worst of adversity is within yourself. The doubts, fears, hesitations, distrustfulness … I have to shake myself of those feelings. I am listening to myself and my actions are following. I can no longer miss out on supernatural victory by avoiding the process. The first step is to start to believe. Believe that you can and you will not fail. Every morning, as my daughter walk out of the door, I tell her, “God is with you, you will not fail.” (Psalm 46:5)

It’s time for supernatural victory, miracle blessings, miraculous favor and intense overflow. No holding back, pray yourself forward to the exact place of your desire then let God do the rest and give you more than you ever expected. Speak life to yourself, yourself is listening.
