Don't relapse on negative thoughts.

Expunge the negativity within you.

We can be our worst critic. Many perfectionist struggle with viewing themselves in a positive light. I struggle with this as well. As an entrepreneur and small business owner, I find myself displeased with a product or an event that I hosted. The lifestyle of an entrepreneur is most times very lonely. You can find that no one understands your vision or business model. Sometimes, we may fall right into the arms of doubt and our thoughts start to match our critics and competition.

I say this in a strong tone - stay the course. You can not begin to divulge in the negative energy that may come from a friend, colleague, family member and most importantly yourself.

As I started writing this months blog, I had many topics and scriptures to share. But this month is very important to my personal testimony. March is ReEntry Awareness Month in Prince George's’ County Maryland. During this month, there will be various activities and events to build awareness on reentry programs and new expungement rules in the state. I am proud to say that I have taken the necessary steps to expunge all cases in my record. This is the best feeling in the world to know that negative things that transpired in my life and recorded for all to see will finally be erased --- for good.

You can carry that same feeling in regards to your negative thoughts. Do not replace your negative thoughts with positive. Expunge the negativity entirely to prevent a relapse of negative thinking. In Philippians 4:8-9 it says; “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”

You do not have to wait 7 years to expunge your negative thinking record. Remove the negative thoughts, the negative actions completely. You have the power in your words to change your story. You have the power to destroy every stronghold (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

You can start by adding this prayer to your daily routine:

God, fill and control me with your Holy Spirit. Drench every part of me, especially my mind. I ask this in the power of Jesus’ name. Amen.

Through this prayer, I have began to expunge negative thoughts and things that I say. I now speak life, joy, happiness, peace for me and those around me. Through this practice, I belief that my critics, colleagues, friends, family, co-workers, etc will see God through me and the negative thoughts that they have against me will be destroyed.
